Vatuvei to miss England tour due to surgery
New Zealand have suffered another blow ahead of their tour of England with the news Manu Vatuvei is to have shoulder surgery.
New Zealand Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei is to undergo shoulder surgery that will keep him on the sidelines for five months and see him miss the national team's tour of England.
Vatuvei suffered an injury to his right shoulder in the Warriors' 30-8 win over Canberra Raiders on June 27.
He made his return in the 18-14 loss to Cronulla Sharks on August 1 but re-injured his shoulder seven days later in a 36-0 defeat to St George-Illawarra Dragons.
And the club have now confirmed that the Kiwi international's season is over, meaning he joins Thomas Leuluai, Shaun Johnson and Dean Whare in being ruled out of New Zealand's tour of England.
Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden said: "Obviously it was a difficult decision but certainly the one that's best for Manu that he gets operated on. That's going to be a decent stint on the sidelines.
"Long term he'll be fine. He should make a full recovery. He won't be the first person to have this type of operation so it's just a matter of going through the rehab process."
New Zealand's tour starts with a warm-up clash against Leeds Rhinos on October 23 before the first game of a three-match Test series with England at Hull's KC Stadium on November 1.
