Ulster missed an opportunity to rub salt in Munster's wounds as they lost 26-22 at Newport Gwent Dragons on Sunday.

Glasgow Warriors had moved four points clear at the Pro12 summit with a 26-5 bonus point victory over Zebre on Friday, before Munster slipped up in their bid to regain top spot - losing 26-12 at Ospreys.

Munster are now third, level on points with Ulster, who took a losing bonus point in being edged out at Rodney Parade.

The hosts went in 6-5 up at the break, before tries from Rhys Buckley and Jonathan Evans helped them surge into a 21-8 lead.

Ulster pulled back courtesy of Craig Gilroy's second try of the match, converted by Ruan Pienaar, but Carl Meyer touched down to keep the visitors at arm's length.

Ross Adair went over in the dying minutes - Pienaar again adding the extras - but it was too little too late as the Dragons earned a much-needed win.

Cardiff Blues made it back-to-back victories since the departure of director of rugby Mark Hammett, winning 18-17 at home to Connacht.

Hammett departed for personal reasons at the end of last month, but the Blues responded by claiming a 21-15 victory over Edinburgh in their next fixture.

And the men from the Welsh capital followed that up with a hard-fought win against Connacht - Joaquin Tuculet going over in the final minute to make sure of the points.

Pro12 officials are reported to be gathering information as they consider whether to take action against Connacht coach Pat Lam for comments he made about touch judge Leighton Hodges following the match.

Leinster's season continues to falter as they were beaten 23-13 at Scarlets, while Edinburgh picked up a 29-8 win at Treviso.
