Morisi out of World Cup, Parisse to make late arrival
Luca Morisi will not feature for Italy at the Rugby World Cup due to knee ligament damage, while Sergio Parisse will be a late arrival.
Italy centre Luca Morisi has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup due to a knee injury, but there is more positive news over Sergio Parisse and Gonzalo Garcia.
Morisi suffered ligament damage to his right knee against Wales in what was the final match ahead of the upcoming tournament.
The Benetton Treviso man's replacement has not yet been named by the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR), who revealed on Wednesday that Garcia sustained a sprained ankle against Wales and will travel to England on Saturday.
There were fears that Italy captain Parisse would not be fit to play on rugby union's biggest stage of all due to a calf problem.
Parisse had fluid drained from his left leg on Monday and will not join his team-mates on the flight this weekend, but will report for duty at a later date as he recovers from surgery.
Italy start their World Cup campaign with a Pool D encounter against France at Twickenham a week on Saturday.
