Loui Eriksson scored a short-handed goal and Landon Ferraro struck just 42 seconds later to give the Bruins the lead.
Patrice Bergeron sealed the win for the Bruins, who had Tuukka Rask make 32 saves as they ended a seven-game regular-season losing streak to the Canadiens.
Taylor Hall scored an overtime goal to see the Edmonton Oilers past the San Jose Sharks 4-3 at Rexall Place.
It marked the Sharks' fifth straight loss.
Beau Bennett scored twice and the Pittsburgh Penguins struck three times in the third in a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
