All England glory for Chen and Marin
Chen Long beat Jan O Jorgensen to secure badminton's All England crown, with Carolina Marin defeating Saina Nehwal in the women's final.
China's Chen Long and Spain's Carolina Marin secured the men's and women's singles titles at badminton's All England Championships in Birmingham.
In a battle between the top two seeds, world number one and world champion Chen overcame the challenge of Denmark's Jan O Jorgensen 15-21 21-17 21-15.
It was a battling display from Jorgensen, the first European to reach the men's All England final since 2004, as he saved four championship points before Chen sealed the title.
Chen did not drop a game between his first-round encounter with countryman Xue Song and the final.
Jorgensen was a semi-final winner over Japan's world number 16 Sho Sasaki after prevailing in an all-Danish quarter-final with Viktor Axelsen.
Sixth seed Marin added the All England to her world and European crowns, also coming from a game down to eventually overcome Saina Nehwal 16-21 21-14 21-7.
Nehwal appeared on course to become India’s first champion in the event as she took 6-1 and 10-6 leads in the second game, but Marin stormed back before dominating the decider.
Marin was primed for such a fluctuating encounter following impressive wins over against fellow seeds Sung Ji Hyun and Tai Tzu Ying en route to the final.
Nehwal, seeded third, did not lose a single game before running into Marin.
