Lindsey Vonn moved into the lead in the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup super-G standings with victory at Garmisch Partenkirchen on Sunday.

The American headed into the latest round 32 points adrift of leader Anna Fenninger, but posted a time of one minute and 16.65 seconds to claim maximum points in Germany, with rival Fenninger (+0.36secs) finishing third.

The result leaves Vonn eight points clear of Fenninger, setting up an enthralling battle between the pair at the final round of the season in Meribel on March 19.

Austria's Fenninger also lost ground in the overall standings, with Tina Maze (+0.2secs) finishing second on Sunday to go 44 points clear at the summit.

Maze is third in the super-G standings, but is now unable to reel in the top two.

Afterwards, Vonn spoke of her delight at bouncing back from a seventh-place finish in the downhill on Saturday.

"Yesterday was disappointing so I came out with the right attitude," she said. "I wanted to ski my best and attack and I did. A nice way to win.

"It's going to be a close fight. I'll have to ski my best and I hope I can get two titles [super-G and downhill]."
