Marquez claims Catalan GP pole on emotional day
A day on from Luis Salom's death, Marc Marquez was the fastest man around a new track configuration in qualifying for the Catalan GP.
Marc Marquez produced a superb lap to easily claim pole position for the Catalan Grand Prix on an emotional day in Barcelona.
A new track configuration was used for Saturday's qualifying sessions following the tragic death of Moto2 rider Luis Salom during practice on Friday.
Salom died following a crash at Turn 12 in the second Moto2 practice session, but MotoGP subsequently confirmed that this weekend's race programme would go ahead with the blessing of the Spaniard's family.

Nearest rival Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha), 10 points clear of Marquez in the championship standings, was almost half a second slower than the Repsol Honda man, whose team-mate Dani Pedrosa completed an all-Spanish top three.
Avintia Racing's Hector Barbera surprisingly took fourth ahead of Valentino Rossi.
