Kenseth wins Pure Michigan 400 in dominant fashion
A slight push from team-mate Denny Hamlin saw Matt Kenseth see off his final rival to win in Michigan.
Matt Kenseth started the Pure Michigan 400 in the pole position and spent the lion's share of Sunday's race in clean air, winning his fourth race of the season.
Kenseth led 146 of the 200 laps, while no other driver led more than 19.
On the final restart with 13 laps left, Kevin Harvick got a nice push from Martin Truex Jr and overtook Kenseth for a small stretch, but the latter used the faster high line on the track and a slight push from team-mate Denny Hamlin to regain the lead in turn one and hold on for the chequered flag.
"Denny did a spectacular job pushing me," Kenseth told NBCSN in Victory Lane.
"From the restart zone to turn two was like a super speedway race... it was whoever got locked up."
Harvick, Truex, Dillon and Hamlin rounded out the top five.
"The guys gave us a rocket today," Kenseth said.
"They've been giving us rockets for the past couple months."
The Sprint Cup Series heads to Bristol next weekend with three races left before the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
