Double delight for Chaz Davies at Laguna Seca
Completing a dream weekend in United States, Chaz Davies claimed both race victories on Sunday.
Chaz Davies did the double at Laguna Seca, winning races one and two of the World Superbikes stop in the United States.
The British Ducati rider won both races by over a second from Kawasaki duo Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea on Sunday.
Davies had taken his first ever Superbikes pole a day earlier, and his good weekend got even better on race day.
He finished 1.798 seconds ahead of Sykes in the opening race and 1.406 clear in the second to take his tally of wins this season to three.
Davies led from start to finish in the first race, while Davide Giugliano and Sylvain Guintoli both crashed early in the second as rain began to fall.
But Davies was again too strong for the rest of the field as he closed in on the top two in the championship.
Rea (407 points) remains well clear atop the championship standings, but Davies (263) did at least make some ground on Sykes (282).
The next round of the season is in Malaysia on August 2.
