Prematch
Good to see Southampton's Oriol Romeu wearing a snood, he really looks the part on a Decembers day in England. Team mate Virgil van Dijk doesn't look so sure.
Just over 15 minutes to go. It's a chilly afternoon on the south coast. Good job Mesut Özil is wrapped up in his snood as warms up before the game.
Arsenal has revealed their team for the game. The big news is that club captain Per Mertesacker replaces compatriot Shkodran Mustafi in central defence.
The team sheets are in! First up Southampton
Preview
Arsenal head to Southampton on Sunday looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-1 league defeat to Manchester United. Arsene Wenger’s side could end the weekend in fourth place should results go their way, and they will be targeting all three points against a Southampton side who have won once in their last seven Premier League games. As for Saints last time they played at home in the league, they easily dispatched with Everton 4-1, historically Southampton has done well when they take on Arsenal, having only lost one game in their last six home encounters to the Gunners.
Predicted lineups.
Southampton XI: Forster, Pied, Van Dijk, Hoedt, Bertrand, Romeu, David, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Boufal, Austin
Arsenal XI: Cech; Holding, Koscielny, Monreal; Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac; Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette
Key Man
Charlie Austin- Three goals in the last three games marks Charlie Austin out as a potential danger man for Southampton. The big striker has successfully returned the side following injury, and his recent form suggests he could be a handful for the Arsenal defence.
Sead Kolašinac- The summer signing has been one of Arsenal's most consistent players for Arsenal this season, and his performances as a left wing-back have made him a threat in both defence and attack for the gunners. So far he has only scored once in the league, but Kolašinac’s attacking threat means he could have a good chance to double his tally against Southampton.
