Sepp Blatter: Gianni Infantino can 'stabilize FIFA again'
Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has nothing but praise for his successor.
Sepp Blatter seems to be pleased with the election on Gianni Infantino.
The former FIFA president had only kind words to say about his successor after his election Friday, The Associated Press reported. According to Blatter, Infantino "has all the qualities to continue my work and to stabilize FIFA again" after the organization was rocked with corruption.
Infantino, 45, will carry out the rest of Blatter's presidential term through May 2019.
In light of the corruption scandal in which Blatter and multiple other officials were accused of wire fraud, racketeering and money laundering, Blatter has been banned from the organization by the FIFA ethics committees for six years.
Blatter's kind words of Infantino's "experience, expertise, strategic and diplomatic skills" sing a different tune from earlier in the presidential campaign, where Blatter offered snarky comments about the former UEFA general secretary.
