Al-Khelaifi: 'A name that will live forever'
Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO, Nasser al-Khelaifi, has expressed his sadness at the passing of Johan Cruyff, on this day, 24 March.
"It is with great sadness and emotion that I learned of the death of Johan Cruyff. The world of football has lost one of its leading lights, a name that will live forever, evoking excellence in the world's most popular sport.
"A symbol of one of the greatest revolutionary playing styles in the history of the game, Johan Cruyff left his mark on the game. He was the emblem of a certain football culture, a style of play geared to what he loved most: scoring goals, again and again.
"He leaves behind the image of a player and a coach that played a leading role in the growth in popularity of football. As television took the game into households around the world in the early 1970s, Johan Cruyff won the hearts of football fans in the four corners of the globe.
"On behalf of the entire Paris Saint-Germain family – players, coaching staff, the board and the supporters –, I pay tribute to his memory. I express my most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones."
