Argentina opened up their U-20 campaign with a comprehensive win over South Africa. Argentina took an early lead as Fausto Vera headed his side into the lead with the game just 4 minutes old. Unperturbed South Africa hit back as Keenan Leigh Phillips, glanced a header to level the tie.
In the second half, Argentina took control from the penalty spot as Ezequiel Barco fired home from twelve yards. The complexion of the tie changed when South African goalscorer Leigh Phillips was shown a straight red.
Barco scored a stunning volley to put the contest beyond doubt, whilst goals from Julian Alverez and a stoppage-time goal from Gaich put the gloss on an already impressive day for Fernando Batista's men.
