India batsman Dhawan out of Sri Lanka Tests
A hand injury has ended Shikhar Dhawan's participation in India's three-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
India have been dealt a blow with confirmation that Shikhar Dhawan will miss the remainder of their three-Test series with Sri Lanka due to a hand injury.
The batsman scored a first-innings century in last week's first Test in Galle, prior to Sri Lanka fighting back impressively to secure a shock victory.
Yet a tweet from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday revealed Dhawan will be unavailable for the second and third Tests.
It read: "NEWS ALERT: Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of the remainder of Sri Lanka tour with a hand injury. #SLvsIND"
Dhawan subsequently tweeted: "Sad to leave my team-mates in the middle of the series, but still did my best even with a broken hand. Will bounce back stronger!
The news brings further disappointment for India, who were bowled out for a dismal 112 in their second innings at Galle to lose by 63 runs.
All-rounder Stuart Binny was added to India's squad on Sunday, but it remains to seen if another specialist batsman will now be called up.
