Record-breaker Chris Gayle revelled in his achievement after scoring the first double century in Cricket World Cup history in West Indies' 73-run win over Zimbabwe.

The left-hander hit 16 sixes on his way to a colossal total of 215 off 147 deliveries as West Indies won with ease in Canberra.

And, having written himself into the record books, Gayle went on to claim bowling figures of 2-35, with his side now in positive mood ahead of the next Pool B match against South Africa on Friday.

"I'm not worried about my bowling at all, I am too good," he said at the on-pitch presentation.

"It was a fantastic day for me. From a team point of view it was a great all-round performance. 

"We are looking forward to the next match against South Africa. When you work hard, then you start to see the results. 

"I'm glad I was able to produce the goods and score my first ODI double century. Eventually things became easier for us, and then eventually we were able to get this big total.

"Coming from the loss in the first game [to Ireland], then beating Pakistan and coming out on top again, now we have to face South Africa. 

"We have to settle scores against them after they beat us 4-1 [in January's ODI series] recently."
