Former Australia Test captain Morris dies
Australia's opening batsman from their 'Invincibles' tour of England in 1948, Arthur Morris, has died.
Former Australia Test captain Arthur Morris died on Saturday aged 93, leaving Neil Harvey as the only surviving member of 'The Invincibles'.
Morris played 46 Tests from 1946-55, including opening the batting under captain Don Bradman on their famous unbeaten tour of England in 1948.
The Sydney native made three hundreds in Australia's 4-0 series win, including big tons of 182 - in the fourth Test at Headingley - and 196 at The Oval in the series finale.
Morris' innings of 196 was memorable for another reason, too, as he was at the non-striker's end when Bradman was bowled for a duck by leg-spinner Eric Hollies in an infamous departure from the Test cricket scene.
He twice captained the Test team - once in 1951, and again in 1954.
Morris' death leaves Neil Harvey, 86, as the only surviving player from the Australians' touring party of 1948.
