Afghanistan target further success against Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe need a response against Afghanistan when their Twenty20 series begins on Monday.
Afghanistan carry all the momentum into their two-match Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe after their historic success in the one-day internationals.
A 73-run win in the fifth ODI gave Afghanistan a 3-2 series victory in the series, their first ever against a full member nation.
The tourists to Zimbabwe will be full of confidence heading into two T20s, the first of which is in Bulawayo on Monday.
Mohammad Nabi, one of the heroes in game five after making 53, was delighted with the rare success.
"We made history," he was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
"It's the first time in 200 years of cricket that we have beaten a full member in a series, I think.
"I'm very happy with my team's performance and my performance. After a very long time I have performed very well. It's very good for me and also for my team."
With 223 runs, Nabi was the leading run-scorer in the series and Afghanistan had the top three in that statistic.
Zimbabwe's batting let them down throughout and will need to improve in the 20-over format.
But they have a poor record in the shorter format, winning just seven of 38 previous matches.
Afghanistan have claimed 17 wins in 31 previous Twenty20s, but they were mostly against lesser opposition.
