Stuttgart have not made the ideal start to the 2018/2019 season, after being dumped out of the German cup to third division outfit Hansa Rostock. An opening day 1-0 defeat to Mainz didn’t help to address the slump as substitute Anthony Ujah scored in the second half to pile further misery on Die Roten. Centre back Benjamin Pavard had a summer to remember with France as Les Bleus lifted the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 21-year old was heavily linked with a move to Bayern in the close season, and so far Stuttgart has resisted the advances from a host of European teams for the versatile defender.

Pavard is likely to start at centre back on Saturday evening, and his battle with Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski will be one to watch out for.

The Dutch winger might be coming towards the twilight of his career, but can still be a key player for FCB this season as they look to rule both domestically and in Europe.

Robben signed a one-year extension with Bayern in the summer and has shown little signs of slowing down just yet. His eye for goal will be needed if Bayern is to get the better of Stuttgart away from home.
