Reigning NBA champions the Golden State Warriors preserved their perfect record with a 109-95 victory over the high-flying Detroit Pistons on Monday.

The Warriors show continues to roll on after 22 points apiece from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson inspired an eighth successive win.

Detroit (5-2) have impressed this season but the Pistons were no match for the title holders on the road, despite Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson's best efforts.

Early MVP candidate Drummond posted a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Pistons team-mate Jackson scored 20 points alongside Stanley Johnson in Oakland.

The Minnesota Timberwolves surrendered a 34-point lead but still managed to beat the Atlanta Hawks 117-107.

Minnesota - set up by a 42-point second term - led 72-42 at half-time but the Hawks, who matched the Timberwolves' haul in the third, hit the front 107-106 for the first time thanks to Paul Millsap with less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

However, the Timberwolves scored 11 unanswered points to snap Atlanta's seven-game winning streak.

Andrew Wiggins starred for the Timberwolves, posting 33 points, while Hawks duo Jeff Teague and Millsap combined for 46.

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Mudiay helped the Denver Nuggets past the Portland Trail Blazers 108-104.

Mudiay, who had 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks, made two free throws in the closing seconds and blocked a Damian Lillard shot at the other end.

The San Antonio Spurs pulled away in the final quarter to defeat the Sacramento Kings 106-88.

Paul George lifted the Indiana Pacers to a 97-84 win over the Orlando Magic and the Chicago Bulls accounted for the winless Philadelphia 76ers 111-88.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers saw off the Memphis Grizzlies 94-92.
