Derrick Rose made his first pre-season appearance, featuring for 10 minutes, as Doug McDermott hit a fadeaway jump shot winner with just one second left.
Taj Gibson contributed 16 points and six rebounds for Chicago, only to be outscored by Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, who netted 19 points.
The Bulls begin the NBA regular season at the United Center against defending Eastern Conference champions the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.
Dallas, meanwhile, finished their pre-season campaign with an unenviable 0-7 record and head to Talking Stick Resort Arena on Wednesday to face the Phoenix Suns.
In Texas, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 111-86 after Danny Green made six three-pointers and LaMarcus Aldridge also had 19 points.
James Harden had 17 points and nine assists for Houston but the Rockets limped home after being comfortably outplayed after the break.
In other final pre-season games, the Miami Heat fell to a 93-90 defeat at the New Orleans Pelicans, whilst the Boston Celtics eased to an 81-65 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Toronto Raptors maintained their 100 per cent home record in pre-season with a 92-82 win over the Washington Wizards and the Orlando Magic beat the Memphis Grizzlies 86-76.
Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo's 23-point haul, the Milwaukee Bucks were beaten 112-108 in Minneapolis by the Minnesota Timberwolves, while the Detroit Pistons thrashed the Atlanta Hawks 115-87.
