James: Cavs ready to go after Finals disappointment
The Cleveland Cavaliers can be contenders once more, according to superstar LeBron James.
LeBron James said the Cleveland Cavaliers are again ready to challenge for the NBA championship after falling at the final hurdle to the Golden State Warriors last season.
Speaking at the Cavaliers' media day on Monday, James said the team were ready and motivated to go a step further in the upcoming season.
"The main thing is to win the championship. We’ve got to prepare for it, visualise it every day, give ourselves the best possible chance to succeed," he said.
"Every single day we have championship habits, that’s what we’re about both on and off the floor.”
James said injuries took a toll on the team last season and health would again be vital in having success.
"Health plays a part for sure. Then it can take some time to get some rhythm in the team," he said.
Responding to a question about his age and fitness, James said it was getting more difficult as the years roll on.
"If you’re asking if I feel as healthy as in my rookie year…I absolutely don’t," the 30-year-old said.
"But I’ll be there on the court tomorrow ready to go."
James said the heartbreak of losing the Finals had become worse every time.
"I’ve been to the Finals six times and lost four of them," he said.
"Would I rather not even make the play-offs than lose in Finals? I have to ask myself that sometimes.
"But I will take all the pain that comes with competing for a championship."
