Ladislav Krejci insisted that Wolves are doing everything in their power to pull off the greatest of Premier League escapes ahead of their trip to Brentford on Monday. 

Back-to-back league victories over Aston Villa and Liverpool have pushed Rob Edwards' side up to 16 points, with the gap to 17th-placed Nottingham Forest now at 13. 

The Opta supercomputer has not given Wolves any chance of avoiding relegation to the Championship, though their upcoming fixtures could well boost the unlikeliest of hopes.

After facing Brentford, Wolves take on fellow relegation battlers Leeds United, West Ham and Tottenham in their next three fixtures after the international break, and Krejci believes there is reason for optimism. 

"Our goals are clear. We still have a chance, even if it's one per cent, it's still a possibility, so this is our goal," Krejci said. 

"This is how we will take it till the end of the season, and if we have the chance to fight for it, I will be the first in line to do it.

"We will be crazy, and also disrespectful to the club and to the fans, if we speak about what could be next season, because the season is not finished, and we are still involved.

"This is not just how I am thinking, but it's how all the people around here are thinking."

Brentford have ambitions of their own at the other end of the table, with the possibility of qualifying for European football in Keith Andrews' first season at the helm. 

The Bees followed up a goalless draw with Bournemouth in their last league game by crashing out of the FA Cup in the fifth round on penalties to West Ham. 

And Andrews is hoping his players can provide the perfect response to their cup exit with a result in the league to lead the way for a spot in Europe in 2026-27.

"The squad are dusting themselves down after the disappointment of going out of the FA Cup. They gave everything," Andrews said. 

"It was a huge physical exertion from the players, especially those who played 120 or more minutes, and then the emotions of going out in the manner that we did."

On facing Wolves, Andrews added: "They've clearly had a frustrating season, and they would've had higher aspirations than what they've produced.

"Rob has built teams in his relatively young managerial career that have been really good and had promotions, with spirit and fight.

"They've got some talented players, for sure. I'm not particularly surprised that they have been playing really well for a number of weeks now."

After his brace in the FA Cup against West Ham, Igor Thiago scored his 20th and 21st goals for Brentford in his 39th appearance in all competitions.

The only South American player to score 20 goals in fewer appearances in the Premier League era is Sergio Aguero for Manchester City (20 goals in 36 games).

Wolves – Rodrigo Gomes

Four of Rodrigo Gomes' five Premier League goals for Wolves have been as a substitute, including all three this season.

Of all players to score five or more times in the competition, only Matt Derbyshire (90%) and Fabio Carvalho (83%) have scored a higher share from the bench than Gomes (80%).

Brentford are unbeaten in their last four league games against Wolves (W3 D1), and are looking to complete the double over them for the first time since 2015-16 in the Championship.

However, after only losing one of their first 11 home league matches of the season (W7 D3), Brentford have since lost two of their last three at the Gtech Community Stadium (D1). The Bees have not suffered successive home league defeats since February 2025.

Coming into this weekend's games, only three teams have had fewer shots than Brentford in the Premier League this season (304), while only five teams have scored more goals (44), giving the Bees the highest shot conversion rate in the competition this term (14.5%).

Wolves, meanwhile, lost this exact fixture 5-3 last season, ending a five-game unbeaten run in away league games against Brentford (W3 D2).

Edwards' side have won their last two Premier League games, having only won one of their previous 32 (D8 L23), and they will want to continue that momentum here. 

They could become the first team to win three consecutive Premier League matches despite starting the day of each one at the bottom of the table since Leicester City in April 2015.
