Liam Rosenior Catches Chelsea Spy
After being eliminated from the Champions League, Liam Rosenior discovered that the lineup his team used for the first leg —which ended in a 5-2 loss— had been published by French media before the match, which was interpreted as a betrayal of the locker room and coaching staff.
A similar situation occurred before the second-leg match, when information about several changes Rosenior planned to make for the game at Stamford Bridge was also leaked. They lost again, this time 0-3. The situation deeply upset the coach, who even promised to find the person responsible.
Identity of the Leaker and the Team’s Situation
At the press conference ahead of this weekend’s match against Everton, the coach revealed that they had already identified the person leaking information. He assured that the individual did not act with bad intentions toward the team or himself but made it clear that the matter had been handled internally.
Rosenior did not reveal the spy’s name, but it is believed that it was neither a player nor someone from the coaching staff. For now, the identity of the responsible party remains a mystery at Stamford Bridge.
Critical Situation in the Premier League
This does not change the difficult moment Chelsea is going through, as they fight to qualify for the next Champions League. The team has only one win in their last five Premier League matches and currently sits sixth in the table, in Conference League zone —a scenario that does not fit the club’s plans. Missing out on the Champions League would be a significant financial blow and could also open the door for Enzo Fernández to leave, as he would prefer to continue at a club competing in Europe’s top tournament.

The Blues’ schedule is very demanding and could determine the club’s immediate future. This Saturday, they visit Everton; afterward, they will face the FA Cup quarterfinals; and later, on April 12 and 18, they will host Manchester City and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in two high-stakes matches.
With spies or without them, Rosenior must turn the team around to remain in the FA Cup race, aim to finish the season with a title, and above all, secure a spot in the Champions League. Much of what Chelsea can build for the next season will depend on this.
