Edwards: Things will be different at Wolves next season
Rob Edwards has insisted that Wolves will make the necessary changes in the summer to boost their chances of promotion next season.
Rob Edwards has vowed Wolves will come back stronger next season as they finished bottom of the Premier League following a 1-1 draw with Burnley.
The Premier League's two already-relegated teams clashed on the final day. Victory would have been enough for Wolves to finish in 19th, condemning the Clarets to bottom place.
Wolves made a bright start and were awarded a penalty following a VAR review as Florentino Luis handled in the area, with Adam Armstrong scoring from the spot.
Despite Wolves going close to a second, as Mateus Mane struck the post with an effort from distance, Zian Flemming equalised straight after the break to earn a point for the Clarets.
Wolves ended the season with just three wins, their lowest total ever in a league campaign, while they became the first top-flight side since Hull City in 2009-10 to go without a victory on their travels.
Edwards is aware of the obstacles he faces in the summer, as he plots a swift return to the Premier League.
He admitted to BBC Sport: "It's been a challenge. In the second half of the season we've been competitive.
"It's been tough, but we've learned a lot. Now I'm really excited about what we can do going forward - that's something we've been talking about with the supporters as well.
"We'll have a new-look group and things will be different next season."
Meanwhile, Burnley caretaker boss Mike Jackson hopes the Clarets can keep striker Flemming in the Championship next season.
Flemming ended the season with 11 goals, with only Chris Wood (14 in 2019-20 and 12 in 2020-21) and Ashley Barnes (12 in 2018-19) managing more for the club in a Premier League campaign.
"For him to get another goal in the Premier League is outstanding for him personally," Jackson told BBC Sport.
"You want to keep all your best players, but the reality of what's happened this season means it can be difficult.
"The club will do its best - it's a balancing act looking at the finances, but you want to try to keep your best players."
