Ivan Djurdjević: “Lech Poznań Has Built Something Stable and Real”
Winning back-to-back league titles is never easy, but for Ivan Djurdjević, Lech Poznań’s latest triumph is about much more than trophies. It is proof that the club has finally built stability, identity, and a long-term vision.

Lech Poznań’s stability behind the latest title
Question:
How do you see Lech Poznań winning a second consecutive league title? Is this proof that the club has entered a period of dominance in the Ekstraklasa?
Answer:
It’s a beautiful thing. Finally, there is a club in Poland showing stability, consistency, and structure in the way it operates, and that is now reflected in the results.
Lech is probably the only club in the Ekstraklasa capable of defending the title while still relying heavily on Polish players and academy graduates. The club has identity and culture, and that creates a very strong foundation for success.
What makes me happiest is that it’s Lech Poznań.
The team effort behind Lech’s success
Question:
Who was the key figure of the season for Lech, in your opinion, and why?
Answer:
I think the key hero was the team itself. Every player took responsibility at the right moment, especially during difficult periods and after defeats.
Every crisis made them stronger.
Mikael Ishak brought leadership and goals as captain, Ali Gholizadeh added quality, Palma creativity, the academy players brought direction and responsibility, and Bengtsson scored crucial goals.
Everyone played an important role.
Djurdjević praises Wojciech Mońka
Question:
How do you evaluate the development and impact of Wojciech Mońka in recent months?
Answer:
Wojciech Mońka is proof of the club’s vision and belief in developing its own players.
Lech gives young players space to grow, which also means allowing them to make mistakes and learn from them. Academy graduates always give something extra on the pitch because they understand what the badge means.

Antoni Kozubal’s growth and future
Question:
What do you think about Antoni Kozubal? Do you see him reaching a European level?
Answer:
Kozubal has been playing regularly for two seasons now and has become a very important player for the team.
He is maturing and developing very well.
Personally, I always believe there is time later for a transfer abroad. Right now, Lech has finally built stability, and European competitions begin very quickly.
I’m not sure the club can afford too many changes, especially considering the level of opponents they will face in Champions League qualification.
The fewer changes, the better.
Question:
Do you think Mońka and Kozubal will stay at Lech for another season, or are transfers more likely?
Answer:
I hope they stay.
Why Niels Frederiksen fits Lech
Question:
Is Niels Frederiksen the ideal coach for Lech at this moment? What has he changed most in the team?
Answer:
He is the ideal coach for Lech right now.
He is calm, confident, and a true leader, especially during difficult moments. That composure spreads throughout the squad.
What Lech needs for Europe
Question:
What are the biggest differences between the Lech team you played for or coached and the current one?
Answer:
I think this team has 25 players ready to compete on three fronts.
There are two or three quality players for every position, plus stability and smart transfers. That makes a huge difference.
Question:
What does Lech still need to improve in order not only to dominate the Ekstraklasa, but also realistically qualify for the Champions League?
Answer:
This squad still needs several reinforcements to increase competition and overall quality.
That extra level will be necessary if Lech wants to compete seriously for the Champions League or Europa League.
Mikael Ishak and Lech’s mentality
Question:
Is Mikael Ishak the best striker in Lech Poznań’s history, or do you see someone on a similar level?
Answer:
Mikael Ishak is not only a striker, but above all a personality.
He is a leader on the pitch and someone who connects people together.
Question:
How would you assess the mentality of this team in the key moments of the season? Was that the decisive factor in winning the title?
Answer:
The key was squad rotation and management.
We often saw top players starting on the bench, but the coach made it very clear that the team and the club were always the priority.
Everyone understood why they were there — to put Lech above everything else.
In difficult moments, the team never lost focus or direction. They stayed stable.
Every player accepted his role and fulfilled it so that Lech Poznań could return to where it belongs.
