Messi Scores Another Brace as Inter Miami Dominate New York Red Bulls
With two goals and an assist, the Argentine led Inter Miami to a commanding win just before the All-Star break.
Inter Miami Crush Red Bulls Behind Messi’s Masterclass
Lionel Messi delivered another sensational performance, leading Inter Miami to a 5–1 victory over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday in the final MLS match before the All-Star break. The Argentine star notched two goals and an assist in yet another electric display of his world-class talent.
The game started with a scare for the team led by Javier Mascherano, as the Red Bulls, who play in Harrison, New Jersey, at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, took the lead in the 15th minute through Alexander Hack after a defensive error. But the comeback was swift and dominant.
Messi set the tone with a stunning assist to Jordi Alba, who slotted home the equalizer. Moments later, the Spaniard returned the favor by assisting Telasco Segovia, who scored the first of his two goals. Just before halftime, Segovia found the net again, putting Inter Miami up 3–1. In the second half, Messi added two more: the first after a through ball from Sergio Busquets, and the final goal courtesy of an assist from Luis Suárez.
The “Messi Effect” Takes Over Again
With this performance, Messi now has 12 goals in his last 7 league matches, including six braces. He has also scored 18 times in 18 appearances during the current MLS campaign. His influence continues to grow, as crowds across the country turn pink to witness the magic of the Argentine icon.
This win also helped Inter Miami bounce back from a 3–0 loss to Cincinnati earlier in the week—a team they will face again after the All-Star break and the showdown with Liga MX.
Despite a shaky start, the team from Florida responded in dominant fashion. The chemistry between Messi, Busquets, Alba, Segovia, and Suárez was on full display, proving that Inter Miami is much more than just a star-studded roster.
