Monaco Strike With Efficiency To Beat Marseille in Intense Clash
AS Monaco defeated Olympique de Marseille despite the visitors’ dominance, thanks to clinical finishing and a standout performance from Lukas Hradecky.
AS Monaco secured an important 2-1 victory over Olympique de Marseille at the Stade Louis-II in a match where efficiency proved decisive.
After a balanced first half, the game opened up in the 59th minute when Aleksandr Golovin finished off a precise cross from Jordan Teze. The goal shifted momentum and allowed the home side to better manage space and tempo.
The second goal arrived in the 74th minute, with Folarin Balogun completing a quick counterattack, perfectly illustrating Monaco’s game plan: concede possession and strike with pace.
Marseille kept pushing and found a lifeline in the 85th minute through Amine Gouiri, whose close-range finish set up a tense finale. However, the visitors’ late surge was not enough to change the outcome.
One of the standout performers was goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, who preserved the lead with seven crucial saves, denying multiple attempts from Marseille, who registered 19 shots overall.
Despite having less possession (48.1%) and only seven attempts, Monaco were far more clinical in front of goal. With this result, the hosts climb up the standings and head into their next fixture with confidence, while Marseille will need to respond after a match in which they dominated but failed to convert their chances
