France Turns on Endrick After Dip in Form
The young Brazilian striker is experiencing his first difficult moment since joining Olympique Lyon. French media and fans have begun questioning his performances after a series of disappointing results for the club.
Brazilian wonderkid Endrick is going through his first challenging moment since arriving at Olympique Lyonnais. After a promising start that generated excitement among supporters, the striker on loan from Real Madrid is now facing criticism following a string of disappointing results for the French side.
The latest episode came in the draw against Paris FC, a match in which Endrick started on the bench and came on in the second half but failed to change the course of the game. His performance was heavily scrutinized after attempting a long-range shot that sailed far off target, an action that triggered boos from the stands.
The situation comes during a difficult week for Lyon. Despite showing flashes of quality in previous matches, the team was eliminated from the Coupe de France by RC Lens and later dropped important points after conceding a late equalizer against newly promoted Paris FC. Those results have increased the pressure on several players in the squad, including the young Brazilian forward.
French sports newspaper L'Équipe was particularly harsh in its assessment, describing Endrick’s minutes on the pitch as “catastrophic.” The outlet criticized his decision-making and accused him of playing too individually, sending several balls into the stands while trying to solve plays on his own.
When he was introduced at Lyon, Endrick made it clear that his goal was to help the club win trophies again. However, the team has not lifted a major title in more than a decade, which adds extra pressure. With the UEFA Europa League now the only competition in which Lyon can still fight for silverware, the upcoming tie against RC Celta de Vigo could define the direction of the season for both the club and the promising Brazilian striker.
