Real Madrid Targets LaLiga Defender
Real Madrid continues to fine-tune its squad ahead of next season, and one of its main priorities is strengthening the defense. To achieve this, the club has set its sights on a young talent currently playing in LaLiga.
A Rising Talent in Spain
The name that has caught the attention of the Spanish giants is Jon Martín, a defender for Real Sociedad, who has established himself as a starter for the txuri-urdin side and has drawn interest from several top clubs, including the Madrid-based team, which sees him as a long-term project.
At just 19 years old, Jon Martín has been a regular starter for the Basque side throughout most of the season and recently scored in the match against Levante. At Real Madrid, his versatility is highly valued, as he is capable of playing on either side of central defense.
A Long-Term Project for the Backline
In addition, Jon Martín stands out for his ability to play out from the back and his strength in aerial duels. His capacity to link up with the midfield and his composure on the ball allow the team to push higher up the pitch and build attacks from more advanced areas.
The defender is under contract with Real Sociedad until 2031, and his release clause is reportedly around €50 million, a figure that Real Madrid considers reasonable given his potential. Within the club, he is viewed as a long-term investment with the ability to become a key leader in defense in the coming years.
The idea is for him to eventually replace Rüdiger and form a solid partnership alongside Huijsen, looking ahead to the future of the club’s backline.
However, Real Madrid is also monitoring other defenders such as Ibrahima Konaté and Nico Schlotterbeck, although in Jon Martín they see a younger profile with greater room for development, making him an ideal long-term option.
