Laporta Puts Out the Fire With Spanish Federation Over Lamine Yamal Case
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta addressed the controversy involving the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Lamine Yamal’s medical situation, clarifying that there is no conflict and emphasizing that the club’s only priority is the player’s well-being.
Laporta Calms Tensions With the Federation
Speaking on El Matí from Catalunya Ràdio, Joan Laporta explained Barcelona’s position regarding Lamine Yamal’s injury and denied any dispute with the RFEF.
“We informed the Federation as soon as we received the doctor’s report. Our medical staff communicated directly with theirs. We don’t want any controversies. On Monday, the specialist examined him, prescribed treatment, and everything proceeded as normal,” Laporta said.
The Barcelona president made it clear that the club’s only concern is ensuring the teenager’s full recovery. “We want Lamine to be in the best possible condition. It just so happened that his situation coincided with the national team’s schedule, but there was no ill intent. The Federation is fully informed, and everything is under control,” he added, downplaying reports of tension between the two institutions.
“Lamine Is a Genius, and We Have to Protect Him”
Laporta also discussed the young winger’s maturity and attitude on and off the field, calling him a cornerstone for the club’s future. “I’m not worried about his lifestyle. He’s far more mature than most kids his age. He’s dealing with pubalgia, but he keeps playing and training with remarkable commitment,” said the Barça president.

“Lamine Yamal is a football genius. We must protect him, guide him, and help him improve day by day. He hasn’t yet reached his full potential, but he’s already the best in the world in his position,” Laporta stated proudly.
The Barcelona president also underlined the club’s dedication to developing homegrown talents through its academy. “Our philosophy has always been to form not just players but people. Lamine embodies the future of this club,” he concluded.
With these comments, Joan Laporta seeks to end the speculation surrounding Lamine Yamal’s condition and the supposed dispute with the Spanish Football Federation, reinforcing the message that Barcelona’s focus remains on protecting its young stars and maintaining stability on and off the pitch.
