Injured Players Cause Problems for Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid Ahead of LaLiga Kickoff
Real Madrid starts the season with problems: Camavinga, Bellingham, Mendy, and Endrick will not be available for the LaLiga debut, complicating Xabi Alonso's plans.
A recurring problem
Xabi Alonso wanted a clean start to the season without any physical setbacks. However, history seems to be repeating itself. Real Madrid will face their first LaLiga match against Osasuna with four confirmed absences that disrupt the new coach's plans.
A worrying list
The latest bad news came on Sunday: Eduardo Camavinga sprained his right ankle during training.
Three other names join Camavinga on the list: Jude Bellingham, who will not return until October; Ferland Mendy, whose recovery is being approached with caution; and Endrick, the young Brazilian who looks set to be the first to return.
Next steps
The coaching staff's goal is to get Camavinga and Endrick back in the short term, while Mendy will follow a progressive training plan. The big question mark remains Bellingham, whose prolonged absence will force a rethink of the midfield for much of the start of the league season.
