Endrick vs Gonzalo: A race to play alongside Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid
Real Madrid are already planning for next season and, with Mbappé turning into a goal-scoring machine, there is only room for one more
There is still a long way to go in the current season, but Álvaro Arbeloa’s Real Madrid are already looking ahead to next year, where Kylian Mbappé is the undisputed attacking reference and needs a partner. However, there will hardly be space for both Endrick and Gonzalo García.
Is Mbappé a problem for Endrick?
Although he is not a traditional No. 9, Kylian Mbappé has already scored 37 goals, and combined with his superstar status, he looks untouchable in the starting XI. On top of that, the Frenchman usually plays whenever possible, limiting rotation up front.
According to AS, Real Madrid are unlikely to consider a three-forward system, which leaves the club facing a decision: continue backing Gonzalo García, who responded with five goals and two assists in January, or make room for Endrick.
The Brazilian, meanwhile, has also delivered at Olympique de Lyon, where he has four goals and one assist in four matches.
Vinícius Jr. is untouchable in Arbeloa’s Real Madrid
In just three weeks, the team has played six matches, and Vinícius Jr. featured in every single minute. In a stretch marked by fixture congestion, rotation and physical management, the coach found no reason to rest his most dangerous attacking player.
