According to Polling, Joan Laporta Wins Barcelona Election
An exit poll points to a clear victory for Joan Laporta in the FC Barcelona presidential election. The early trend placed him well ahead of Víctor Font in a voting day marked by high expectations, political tension, and strong member interest.
The FC Barcelona presidential election left an image of continuity around the club. While the full official count still needed to be completed, both the exit poll and the first official results showed a strong trend in favor of Joan Laporta, who appears set to remain in charge of the institution with a very broad level of support from the members.
The poll released right after voting closed gave Laporta 66.6 percent of the vote, ahead of Víctor Font, who stood at just over 30 percent. As the official count progressed, the gap remained consistent and reinforced the impression of a comfortable win for the current president.
Laporta Takes Control Early in the Count
The first official figures quickly confirmed what the exit poll had already suggested. With a significant portion of the polling tables counted, Joan Laporta maintained a clear margin over Víctor Font, making it increasingly evident that the day was breaking in favor of his candidacy.
Inside Laporta’s camp, the mood quickly shifted into celebration. At the gathering points for his team, there were chants, applause, and scenes of triumph, while Font’s side remained more reserved as they waited for the final stages of the count.
The election day also featured the presence of several prominent figures connected to the club, including Aitana Bonmatí, Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Ronald Araújo, Pedri, Raphinha, Deco, and even head coach Hansi Flick, all of whom appeared around the electoral process on a highly symbolic day for Barcelona supporters.
Víctor Font Concedes Defeat
As the official tally continued, Víctor Font ended up acknowledging the result and publicly congratulated Joan Laporta for what he described as an “undeniable victory.” Although he expressed disappointment at not being able to deliver the change his project had proposed, he accepted the outcome and thanked the members who supported his candidacy.
The businessman also called for future FC Barcelona electoral processes to be modernized, especially in relation to participation and voting systems. Even so, he stressed that there remains a significant portion of the club’s social base that wants to see change in the institution.
A Vote With Moderate Turnout
More than 48,000 members cast their ballots in an election day that, while drawing strong attention from the Barcelona fan base, finished with turnout below some recent previous elections. Even so, the number of voters confirmed that the future of FC Barcelona continues to generate enormous interest among its supporters.
If the trend is fully confirmed in the official final result, Joan Laporta will begin a new term leading the club, with the challenge of maintaining the sporting project, stabilizing the institutional environment, and responding to a membership that once again placed its trust in him.
