Staying Put? Here's What Simeone Said About Joao Félix
Atlético Madrid's coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, commented on the future of Portuguese player Joao Félix, stating that as long as he's with the team, they'll "value him based on his work."
"He played well in the 45 minutes he got against Getafe. He's an Atlético Madrid player, and as long as he's here, we'll value him based on how he works, just like we do with everyone else on the team," Simeone said at a press conference in Hong Kong, where Atlético is preparing for their third preseason friendly against Kitchee SC.
Joao Félix is completing the preseason with Atlético after his loan spell at Barcelona last season. Last Saturday, he played the first half of the friendly against Getafe, performing well and scoring a nice goal to make it 0-2.
Talking about the team's work, Simeone highlighted that "the guys are doing well, they've been working for 15 days now." "This is the third friendly, and we're close to starting the season. They're in a good spot to start La Liga, and we're aiming to play well," he said.
So far, Atlético has signed Spanish defender of French origin Robin Le Normand and Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth, but the management is working on more additions. "We're happy with Le Normand and Sorloth joining us. It's a big step for the club and good for the team's growth. Once everyone is here, we'll be able to form the squad we want," the coach stated.
