Neymar Speeds up His Recovery to Make It to the 2026 FIFA World Cup After Calf Injury
Neymar is making progress in his recovery and dreams of being in Brazil's World Cup debut, despite a history of injuries that haunts him.
¿Will Neymar make a comeback?
Neymar's World Cup hopes are once again marked by uncertainty. The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that the Santos forward shows "good progress" in recovering from the injury to his right calf that kept him out of action last month. The initial diagnosis was a grade two muscle tear, with an estimated recovery time of two to three weeks.
Neymar's medical evolution
The last medical examination, conducted on Monday, confirmed that the evolution is within the expected parameters. Under the supervision of the national team's medical staff, Neymar will continue with a specific recovery and physical preparation plan, designed to ensure he is in good condition for the World Cup debut.
The importance of Neymar and his medical history
The absence of the Brazilian star was already felt in the previous friendlies, with Brazil thrashing Panama 6-2 and beating Egypt 2-1 without their top offensive player. Carlo Ancelotti, aware of Neymar's importance, included him in the final call-up list, leaving out forwards like Joao Pedro. However, the question remains: will he be ready for the debut on June 13 against Morocco?
The player's medical history does not help to clear up doubts. In October 2023, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear in his left knee during a match against Uruguay, and since then, injuries have been chasing him. Nevertheless, Neymar remains hopeful of playing in his fourth World Cup, having been a key player in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 editions.
