Thousands of supporters have already gathered in places such as Times Square in New York, while Buenos Aires is preparing a special security operation for fans during the Final and, potentially, another World Cup celebration.

The Obelisk will once again be the heart of the celebrations

As throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Obelisk in Buenos Aires is expected to become the main gathering point for Argentina supporters.

Thousands of fans are expected to arrive before kickoff and remain there if Argentina lifts the trophy.

City authorities will deploy around 1,000 police officers around the Obelisk and surrounding areas. Caravans from different neighborhoods and traditional Argentina chants are also expected.

When will Argentina return home?

Although the schedule has not been officially confirmed, Argentina is expected to return home on Monday, when a victory parade and an official visit to Casa Rosada could take place.

For now, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) has already taken measures ahead of the team's return.

AFA suspends domestic matches

The AFA announced the suspension of all matches scheduled for Monday, July 20, and Tuesday, July 21, to focus on the national team's return following the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

"The Argentine Football Association informs that all matches across every category scheduled for Monday, July 20, and Tuesday, July 21, have been suspended," the organization said.

The AFA added that the decision was made "due to the national team's return to the country following its participation in the World Cup."
