Capello Exposes Ronaldo: “A Negative Leader in the Locker Room”
The Italian coach reveals untold stories about Ronaldo Nazário’s time at Real Madrid, criticizing his influence both on and off the pitch.
Legendary manager Fabio Capello made headlines once again after delivering a brutally honest assessment of Ronaldo Nazário during a public appearance in Ferrara.
Reflecting on his time at Real Madrid, Capello did not hold back, labeling the Brazilian striker as “a negative leader” who had a damaging influence inside the squad. “He didn’t train properly and dragged his teammates down with him,” Capello stated.
The Italian coach even revealed details about Ronaldo’s physical condition, noting a significant weight gain compared to his World Cup-winning days. According to Capello, this decline in professionalism ultimately forced the club to act. “He wasn’t a good example. He was always partying, had gained weight, and was distracted,” he added.
Capello also took time to reflect on his own career decisions, admitting that leaving Real Madrid to return to AC Milan was “the biggest mistake” he ever made. He further criticized wasted talents like Antonio Cassano and Mario Balotelli, while describing Johan Cruyff as both brilliant and “arrogant.”
His comments have reignited debate around Ronaldo’s legacy—one that blends undeniable greatness with recurring questions about discipline and consistency off the pitch.
