Cristiano Ronaldo Scores a Brace for Al Nassr and Moves Closer to 1,000 Career Goals
The Portuguese star led Al Nassr’s comeback against Al Fayha, continuing to build on his historic tally
At 40 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo keeps writing chapters that seem impossible even for football’s greatest legends. The Portuguese icon scored a crucial brace in Al Nassr’s dramatic 2–1 victory over Al Fayha, a match decided deep into stoppage time. With these two goals, the Portuguese captain reached 952 official career goals, continuing his relentless pursuit of a milestone that only he seems capable of achieving: 1,000 goals in professional football.
It was a real test of resilience for Luís Castro’s side. Al Fayha took an early lead through Spanish forward Jason Remeseiro in the 13th minute, forcing the Saudi league leaders to fight back. But, as so many times before in his career, Cristiano stepped up to rescue his team—first with a precise finish in the 37th minute after a brilliant assist from Frenchman Kingsley Coman, and then with a penalty in the 104th minute, after more than 14 minutes of added time.
An Eternal Goal and a Record Within Reach of One Man
The brace not only secured Al Nassr’s seventh consecutive victory but also reaffirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo remains a goal machine with no expiration date. At 40, he has now scored 952 goals for club and country, leaving him just 48 shy of a number no other player in history has ever reached.
His influence at the Saudi club is absolute. With this latest comeback, Al Nassr remain at the top of the Saudi Pro League, three points ahead of Al Taawon, who also won their match against Al Qadisiya (2–0), managed by Míchel González and featuring Nacho Fernández.
A Heated Title Race in Saudi Arabia
Meanwhile, Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad played out a thrilling 4–4 draw against Al Khaleej. Without the injured Frenchman, the team showed character by coming back from 4–0 down thanks to goals from Moussa Diaby, Mario Mitaj, and Faisel Al Ghamdi.
Still, all eyes remain on Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to defy time with every match. The Portuguese legend not only leads Al Nassr in the league but also keeps chasing an almost mythical goal: reaching 1,000 career goals and etching an eternal legacy in football history.
