Barcelona vs Real Madrid Rivalry Reaches New Level After Laporta’s Statement
Joan Laporta, presidente del Barcelona, lanzó una picante frase que calienta la previa de la Final de la Supercopa de España.
Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in El Clásico to decide the Spanish Super Cup champion, and ahead of the match in Saudi Arabia, Laporta made it clear that the rivalry now goes far beyond the pitch.
Laporta Takes Aim at Real Madrid Ahead of the Super Cup
Speaking at an event in Jeddah, which was also attended by Rafael Louzán, president of the Spanish Football Federation, the Barcelona president admitted that relations between the two clubs are at their lowest point.
“Relations with Real Madrid are bad, they are broken. There are different issues that have pushed us apart. If we were already fierce and eternal rivals, now a situation has developed where the relationship is broken. That doesn’t mean there is no respect. As in life, everything can be repaired, but it depends on both sides,” Laporta said.

Laporta also addressed the absence of Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, from the event.
“Maximum respect and cordiality. I don’t know if Florentino is here — he didn’t attend the Federation event — but he is free to do whatever he wants. We have the utmost respect for our rival and its representatives.”
