Sevilla salvages draw with Sunderland in friendly
Ruben Vargas scored with the last kick of the match as Sevilla salvaged a 1-1 draw with Premier League side Sunderland in a pre-season friendly in Portugal.
Regis Le Bris’s newly-promoted Black Cats had gone 1-0 up after Enzo Le Fee pounced on a poor backpass from the LaLiga side and slotted home with ease on the half-hour mark.
Sunderland had much the better of the match throughout, creating a number of good chances that will give them confidence heading into the Premier League season.
For Sevilla, it was a far from fluid performance, rescued by Vargas's late strike, which was one of the few positive moments for coach Matias Almeyda, who is looking to improve on Sevilla's form of last season, which saw it almost drop out of Spain top flight.
