Crucial penalty denies Oscar Piastri the win at the British Grand Prix
Oscar Piastri was set to win his first British Grand Prix before being handed a penalty for a safety-car infringement, which allowed McLaren teammate Lando Norris to usurp the lead and cross the chequered flag in first place.
After starting from P2 behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen, Piastri had got himself into the lead of what proved to be an eventful race at Silverstone, holding on to the lead through two Safety Car periods.
However, when the second safety car phase came to an end, Piastri was deemed by the stewards to have braked too late at the restart, resulting in him being handed a 10-second penalty which he later served during a pit stop.
