Rio 2016: Abuljadayel creates history for KSA
Kariman Abuljadayel became the first Saudi Arabian woman to compete in the Olympics’ 100m.
The 22 years athletes came seventh in her preliminary heat, meaning she was eliminated from the games, but her participation earned widespread praise on social media.
Abuljadayel was not, however, the first female Saudi track athlete to participate in the Olympics. That distinction was earned by Sarah Attar, who competed in the 800 metres in the London games in 2012.
