Ratcliffe not drawn on Carrick's future at United
Jim Ratcliffe saluted Michael Carrick's interim spell as Manchester United head coach, but would not comment on his future at Old Trafford.
The former Red Devils midfielder returned to Old Trafford on a temporary basis in January after the dismissal of previous boss Ruben Amorim.
Carrick has overseen an upturn in fortunes by winning six of his eight games in charge, while his tally of 19 points during this period is the most by any Premier League side.
There have subsequently been calls for the 44-year-old to be given the job on a permanent basis, but Ratcliffe would not be drawn on questions regarding extending Carrick's stint.
"No, not going there," Ratcliffe said when asked.
"He is doing an excellent job, yes, absolutely."
Ratcliffe's immediate focus is on United securing Champions UEFA League qualification for the first time in three seasons, with the Red Devils sitting third on the table, only ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.
"Clearly, we are thinking about that [UEFA Champions League qualification]," he added. "But there are still seven or eight games to go, so still a while yet."
United has the opportunity to pull clear of Villa and potentially strengthen its hold on a UEFA Champions League place when the sides go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Monday (AEDT).
