Manchester City slips up against West Ham
Manchester City's Premier League title hopes took a hit as West Ham United came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at London Stadium and move out of the relegation zone.
After Arsenal's dramatic win over Everton earlier in the day, City could not get the win it needed to reduce the gap at the top of the table back to seven points.
City had started on top without posing too much threat to West Ham's goal, until Bernardo Silva looked set to stand up a cross in the 31st minute, only for the ball to loop over Mads Hermansen instead.
However, the hosts were back on level terms four minutes later as Gianluigi Donnarumma misjudged the flight of Jarrod Bowen's corner and Konstantinos Mavropanos thumped a header in off the underside of the crossbar behind him.
City continued to push, with Antoine Semenyo drilling wide before Erling Haaland's low snapshot was pushed wide of the post by Hermansen.
West Ham's goalkeeper also made a stunning fingertip save to push Tijjani Reijnders's tight-angled free-kick on to the bar as City continued to push.
The visitors' best chance came in the dying seconds, as an unmarked Marc Guehi blazed a golden opportunity over the bar after a scramble in the box.
But Guardiola struck an upbeat tone about his side's title chances, despite being nine points behind Arsenal with eight games to play.
"No, it's not over – because we did not lose," the City coach said.
"We have one game in hand, we have the game [against Arsenal] at home ... we have to try it until the end."
West Ham moved out of the relegation zone for the first time since December and up to 17th on the table with 29 points, one ahead of Nottingham Forest, which has a game in hand.
"We've got to put the pressure on other teams," Bowen said after the match.
"We've got to be the ones to get ourselves out of the situation, regardless of what happens around us."
