Liverpool has moved on from Salah saga, says Slot
Arne Slot said that the saga surrounding Mohamed Salah's sensational outburst at Elland Road is in the past as Liverpool prepares to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Salah was at the centre of a remarkable post-match interview when he was left as an unused substitute for Liverpool's 3-3 draw against Leeds United earlier this month.
The Egyptian suggested that the club had "thrown him under the bus" while also revealing that his relationship with Reds boss Slot had broken down during the 2025-2026 season.
Salah was subsequently dropped from Liverpool's squad for its 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League, but returned to the team to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the same week.
He was again named on the bench, but came on in the 26th minute to replace the injured Joe Gomez, going on to assist Hugo Ekitike in the second half of a 2-0 victory.
The 33-year-old departed for the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this week, with Slot able to provide clarity on the situation before making the trip down to north London.
"I said last week, actions speak louder than words," Slot said when asked if there are still issues to resolve with the player over the coming weeks.
"We moved on. He was in the squad and was the first substitution I made. Now he's at AFCON and will play some big games, so it's only fair that all the focus is on them [Egypt]."
Liverpool's victory over Brighton means it is now five games unbeaten across all competitions for the Premier League champion, which is picking up form at a key time.
"I hope we will all see this in results, but I think we are progressing," Slot added. "I had to play players who weren't fit too many times this season.
"I'm not talking only about the new players. I see players progressing in terms of their fitness and, as a result of that, their performances. I think we are definitely making progress."
Liverpool won both Premier League meetings with Spurs last season by 6-3 and 5-1 scorelines, the latter seeing it crowned top-flight champion for the 20th time.
But should it manage to replicate that achievement, it will have to do so without Cody Gakpo, whom Slot expects to be ruled out until the new year.
Dominik Szoboszlai could feature for the Reds, however, despite sustaining an ankle injury against Brighton, bur Joe Gomez remains sidelined.
"He [Cody Gakpo] had a scan that looked promising, so we're not that worried anymore," the Dutchman said.
"He might come back earlier than expected, but definitely not tomorrow. Joe [Gomez] is not in the squad as well.
"Dominik [Szoboszlai] trained yesterday for the first time. We'll see where he's at today."
