Diop and Cairney lift Fulham past Newcastle
Fulham marked what might be Marco Silva's last match in charge with a 2-0 home win over Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League season.
Silva is out of contract at Craven Cottage and promised news on his future next week after reports of interest from rival clubs.
This performance showed why Fulham is said to be so keen to keep is boss as it dominated Newcastle from start to finish.
Issa Diop's first-half header after Kevin's free-kick struck the crossbar was followed by a stunning late Tom Cairney strike, which was set up by Harry Wilson.
Newcastle was perhaps fortunate to avoid further punishment in the closing stages as Fulham continued to create chances.
After its hopes of European qualification were ended earlier in the week, Eddie Howe's visitor made for accommodating opponents and scarcely troubled Bernd Leno in concluding an underwhelming campaign with a whimper.
A 12th-placed finish ensures this is not a season anyone on Tyneside will reflect on fondly, with Fulham one place and three points better off.
