Bees sting cuts Arsenal's league lead to four
Arsenal's lead at the top of the Premier League stands at just four points after it was held to a 1-1 draw by high-flying Brentford.
Mikel Arteta's side was looking to respond to Manchester City's 3-0 win over Fulham on Thursday, but was far from its best at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Noni Madueke gave Arsenal the lead from its first attempt on target just after the hour, only for Keane Lewis-Potter to score a header of his own 10 minutes later.
Igor Thiago and Gabriel Martinelli both went close at either end late on in a gripping end to the contest, but the points were ultimately shared.
Without key defender William Saliba due to illness, Arsenal required David Raya's fine save from Thiago's header to keep the scoreline level at the interval.
Arsenal improved early in the second half when Martin Odegaard replaced Eberechi Eze, with Madueke heading in from Piero Hincapie's delivery to give the visitors the lead.
But Lewis-Potter got on the end of a Michael Kayode long throw into the box, which was flicked on by Sepp van den Berg, to earn Brentford a point they will feel they deserved.
