Norwich support turns on Manning after Hull defeat
Norwich City's horrendous run at Carrow Road continued as Hull City surged into the Championship play-off race with a 2-0 win, leaving manager Liam Manning's future at the Canaries in serious doubt.
Manning and the Norwich board were subject to repeated chants of frustration as Norwich suffered a sixth defeat in as many home games in the league.
Josh Sargent passed up a glorious opportunity early on, only for Joe Gelhardt's second-half strike – his fourth in as many matches – to edge the high-flying Tigers ahead.
Substitute Darko Gyabi then converted on the rebound with just minutes remaining for his first Hull goal, sealing an impressive victory and moving Sergej Jakirovic's side to six games unbeaten.
Hull had won just one of its 13 away league games against Norwich since 1972 – a 2-0 success at Carrow Road in September 2010.
"I apologise to the fans for that, it's not good from me," Manning said after he was seen walking down the players' tunnel at full-time without acknowledging the home fans.
"I'm hurting, it's not the right thing to do and I apologise to everyone for that.
"Ultimately you're tired of saying the same things – I'm scratching my head.
"I reflect on my performance first, and you look at the first half and you have to be ahead.
"We just shoot ourselves in the foot by giving away, yet again, a horrific goal.
"It's the same message, you keep fighting. Clearly there's a lot that needs to change. We have to look in-house and change."
