Blackburn win gives Moyes's Everton a headache
EFL Championship side Blackburn Rovers dished up a 1-0 defeat to Premier League visitor Everton in a pre-season friendly that will have Toffees boss David Moyes scratching his head as the new season approaches.
Dion De Neve scored the only goal of the game, tapping home Callum Brittain's right-wing cross as the hosts opened up Everton's defence with relative ease after just seven minutes.
Rovers created more opportunities before the break but failed to add to the scoreline, and Moyes's men came out significantly stronger in the second half.
But try as they might, they were unable to break Blackburn's resolve, and might have gone 2-0 down late in the game had it not been for an incredible save by new goalkeeper Mark Travers, who dived high to his left to claw away a superb Harry Pickering free-kick with 15 minutes remaining.
