ONE Friday Fights 151 Results: Hussain Stays Perfect In A War, Petmuangsri Puts On A Masterclass
ONE Friday Fights returned with a bang as Ubaid Hussain edged a thriller and Petmuangsri Torfunfarm hit a milestone 60th win.
After a week away, ONE Friday Fights returned to Bangkok's iconic Lumpinee Stadium on April 24, and it came back with a bang.
Ubaid "Bad" Hussain survived the fight of his life to edge Panpadej NF Looksuan by unanimous decision in a breathless three-round war, improving to a perfect 15-0 and staking his claim as a serious contender for a life-changing contract. In the co-main event, Petmuangsri Torfunfarm showed the full range of his toolkit, as he dropped Chankrit Manop Gym in the first round and controlled the rest of the battle to earn his 60th career win.
Hussain Survives The Storm
Ubaid "Bad" Hussain has been through wars before, but nothing quite like this. From the opening seconds of the flyweight Muay Thai main event, he and Panpadej NF Looksuan threw everything at each other in a dizzying, non-stop exchange that had the crowd in attendance at Lumpinee Stadium on their feet and never let them sit back down.
Panpadej edged the first round with cleaner, more damaging shots, and he matched Hussain's pressure with sharp counters and punishing clinch work, as he drove knees to the body and legs to drain the British-Pakistani striker’s gas tank. The second round was pure chaos, with both men throwing shots from every angle in search of a jaw-dropping moment.
Hussain found his in the third. He walked Panpadej down behind heavy punches, and when the moment came, a perfectly timed right hand sent the Thai to the canvas. Panpadej beat the count and fought on with everything he had, but the knockdown proved to be the difference when the scorecards were read.
With the win, Hussain stays perfect at 15-0 and has announced himself as a genuine candidate for the life-changing US$100,000 contract. Meanwhile, the Thai suffers his first loss in ONE Championship.
Petmuangsri Does It All
Petmuangsri Torfunfarm needed just one round to seize control, and then he spent the next two making sure Chankrit Manop Gym never got it back. The 22-year-old was a picture of technical precision from the opening bell, setting up his attacks patiently before a left hook wobbled the debutant and a right high kick sent him to the canvas.
In the second frame, Chankrit tightened his defense and closed the distance to smother Petmuangsri's high kick before it could find the mark again. But the TDed99 product had too many answers, even in the third round. There, he flipped the script and played the counter game, evading Chankrit's punches and picking him apart from every angle to lock up the win.
The unanimous decision gave Petmuangsri his 60th career win and inched him closer to the life-changing contract.
